Congratulations to our EGLNG team for their impressive safety milestone! In February, we surpassed 1 million work hours with no lost time or recordable incidents. In fact, since the start-up of EGLNG operations in 2007, the team has had very few recordable incidents and injuries – truly a demonstration of safety excellence. Overall, it took determination, commitment and a team mindset to achieve this latest milestone.

Faced with unprecedented challenges because of COVID-19 restrictions, including the inability to move people in and out of Punta Europa to maintain a schedule, the team stepped up to support the continuation of safe and responsible operations. National operations employees voluntarily sequestered themselves inside Punta Europa away from their families, and expatriate employees worked well beyond typical leave periods. 

This safety milestone, which is significant in normal circumstances, was achieved through the pandemic and without missing business drivers such as plant operations, maintenance, utility services and loading of LNG cargos.
